Romania 8.31.23
Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.
1 Peter 4:11
Praise!
Because of the generosity of many of you reading this, not only am I fully funded, I am now over funded! Thank you for sowing into what God is doing in Romania. You are just as much a part of this as I am. I might be here physically, but I wouldn’t be without you.
Hey friends! This is the first newsletter of many while I’m here in Romania. It has already been 10 days since I got here and I’ve been getting used to the time difference, culture, getting to talk to lots of new friends, and discussing ministry.
Travel day here was extremely smooth (praise God). Not only were all of my flights super smooth, but all of my connecting gates were right next to each other, which never happens for me and was a huge blessing!
All the people pictured below are friends that I had the pleasure of meeting last year while I was here. It has been so amazing getting to know them more, hear parts of their stories, and how God has moved in their lives. We all took a trip to the lake the other day to hang out (pictured below). It was an amazing time!
I am super lucky and am staying in an apartment right next to the main square. My roommate and I both love to host people, which has been incredible. There have already been many days that we have people over for dinner, to play games, or just to chat while we hang out on the porch.
The past week I’ve tried lots of new food, spent time walking around and exploring the city, hung up all my photos in my room, and I have been teaching my friends some of my favorite games like Spicy Uno.
Since being here I have had the chance to discuss in detail with Pastor Addy, what ministry looks like. That is a whole separate newsletter that you should see soon! I am so excited to get into a consistent schedule with ministry soon.
Prayer Requests
- To be present. This newsletter is full of good news, but I would be lying if I said it was easy. Being so far away from my people in Greenville has been hard. I’m thankful for things like FaceTime, but if you’ve ever been far away from a community you love deeply, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
- Wisdom. As I get the details for specific ministry, that I would be able to serve to the best of my ability in all areas that I have been asked to help.
Week one is finished! It’s been hard and full of laughter, I’ve been tired and ready to do more, above all else I’m expectant for the next three months and what God is going to do here! Thanks for reading! If you want to text or call, my phone works here so don’t hesitate to reach out or you can always email me!
Love ya, Sumer
