I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!
He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps.
The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night.
The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.
Psalm 121
Hey friends! Long time no newsletter, sorry about that! Here’s a recap of the last FOUR weeks!
Family conference! Two weekends ago we had a family conference in a city called Cluj. It’s two hours away from where I am living. This was a time for people to come together and learn what it looks like to have a healthy family/marriage centered in Christ. It was filled with some amazing times of worship, good conversation, and lots of new friendships. I was there to help set up and organize before the event started and then help hand out books as people were signing in.
The last few weeks have been filled with lots of slow time. It has given me a chance to enjoy the city even more, take my computer to go get work done in some of the parks near me, and just be able to slow down and watch the sunsets. If I’m being honest, I am not a fan of times like these, I like to be busy busy busy. As someone who tries to have a full schedule at home, it is definitely weird navigating free time in the morning, lesson planning, and then having activities in the evening. I am learning how to be content even when I feel bored. I can’t just get in my truck to drive around or call my friends to hang out. There is a weird combination of loving it here and missing the little things back in the US.
After the family conference, I unfortunately caught a cold. All of last week I was down for the count. Thankfully it never got too bad, but it was very very annoying not being able to be at church or just do my normal things. Plus, being sick away from home is never fun. Praise God, I am finally over it!
On Wednesday nights at the church we have prayer and a bible study that alternate every other week. This is a time we come together not only to stand with each other spiritually, but also grow in understanding of the Lord. The church is currently going through a study of what it means to walk in freedom. It has been a wonderful time of learning and fellowship as we sit in small groups after to discuss.
Prayer Requests
- Health. Continued health after getting over sickness last week. Being sick is no fun, especially when you have work to be doing. There are still sickness traveling around the church here, so please be praying for me and everyone else to be protected.
- Contentment. Praying that even in this slow time, I would be content with all that the Lord is doing. That I would not miss the small things He is doing in me and the people around me.
I’m on the final stretch, one month left. This time has simultaneously felt long and fast. And I won’t lie, I’m really excited to be back in Greenville in just 26 days, but ready to finish well here. The last week has been filled with many FaceTime calls to friends. Thankful for technology that allows me to stay in touch across the world! Once again, thank you for being part of this journey and following along!
Love ya, Sumer
